Bailey Pageant Series 7
Pageant Series 7 sells well used, it’s light and yet comes with a great spec plus large front gas locker

Layout: front end dinette, side kitchen, side dresser, side fixed bed and corner washroom.

Pros: lightweight, decent storage, decent kit including Al Ko ATC

Cons: Now looks dated, no central chest of drawers, upholstery loses it’s support.

Look out for: Microwave not working, cracking back panel, furniture edging coming away

Extra equipment? Look out for optional upholstery, fitted mover.

Bailey Pageant 7 lounge
The lounge is spacious with plenty of legroom, but no front chest of drawers is fitted – they were an option

Jenkinson’s opinion: The Pageant Series 7 range was launched for 2008; Bailey stretched the width to 7ft 6in and went retro with the teak furniture finish. The new Pageant sales were not as overwhelming as previous Bailey ranges. Although sales were not hot, fast-forward the years and as a used tourer, the Pageant Series 7 makes sense and the lightweight yet decent spec has made it a decent used buy.

Kitchen in the Bordeaux
Kitchen in the Bordeaux has good worktop and also storage – check microwave still works.

So the Bordeaux comes in to our 2/4 berth fixed bed lineup for our budget. The Bailey comes with exterior mains socket, ATC electronic stability towing control, an extractor fan, TV aerial and microwave, making it ideal for a couple as their first tourer. The other news is that there is usually one lurking on a dealer’s forecourt somewhere, so do look around at other examples. It’s not the most modern but the Pageant is a tourer that has much to offer in the used market place.

How to find a good one
Bailey dealerships usually have used, older models on the forecourt; this is usually a good place to find one. For private sales, checking the various selling sites can be the answer. Always do the checks for damp and also for the cracking of the rear panel, the other things to check for again is a service record and also look for damaged bodywork, as some parts will be hard to source.

Bed area
More overhead storage is provided over the bed – check mattress for support

Check the upholstery for support and also that the microwave is working as they are known to not function after a few years. Dealerships are still the place to go and a good one will talk you through the van and back up with a guarantee. Do the checks and this Bordeaux should give good service and make an ideal first buy.

Touring Caravan Corner washroom
Corner washroom is quite large and comes with cassette electric flush loo
